Antique Fuchsia Knit Shirt

I thought maybe it was byzantium, or maybe plum, or even french lilac, but trust me, antique fuchsia is definitely the perfect color match.  Look it up on Wikipedia. :-)
Pattern: Butterick 5497
Fabric: Purple knit leftover from the Travel Dress.

Shirts are usually a little small and short on me, so I made this in a size 12 and lengthened the bottom.  Long shirts are a necessity for bending over.  Speaking of which, the high neckline on this shirt makes bending over quite safe. :-)

It also helps to know your body shape.  I'm not as curvy as the pattern assumes most women are, so I cut the top of the bottom part just slightly wider than the pattern said to.

The sleeves are SO comfortable!  If you have bigger arms though, like me, I would modify the pattern so that the arm hole is bigger.  It would increase range of motion and keep it cool if you're making the shirt out of a stuffier fabric like lycra.

I didn't read the pattern beforehand, so I didn't know I needed elastic.  I was able repurpose some elastic from an old fitted sheet.  Green, right?  Hehe.

The elastic in the sleeve make the gathering so even.  The peephole in the back makes this top something I would wear everyday, but it is so elegant.  I think it is perfect for evening. :-)  It was the main reason I bought the pattern actually. :-)

(Earrings made by me)

I'll be making a different version of this pattern very soon.  I already have the fabric picked out!
