Favorite Blog Award

Jo gave me this award.  Thank you so much!  I never dreamed I'd be anyones favorite blog!
Rules for Accepting the Award:
1. Do a post about the person who awarded you, and their blog.
2. Give the award to four or five of your favorite blogging friends, tell about them and their blog, and leave a comment on their blog.
3. Answer the ten random questions

Jo's blog is called "Scraps from my Workbasket.." I "met" her a couple of months ago when she would comment and we would talk about costuming and such.  Her blog is mostly sewing things, but she does post about other interesting things as well.  She didn't have her own blog till quite recently though, and as I just found out on her blog, It was Lucie and I that convinced her to start one!  Wow...that is cool.

It may seem a little odd to award "four or five" people as your "favorite", so here is what favorite means in this context.  It means that I love your blog.  You've never posted about anything that I thought was boring, I come away from your blog and I don't feel like I've wasted time, I feel like I've learned something.  And...when I get on the computer, you're the first RSS feed I check!  ...now I've got to narrow it down...
Now I award:

I've been reading Lucie's blog for over a year now, and it has been so fun.  She posts about crafts and books mostly, two things that I enjoy very much.  She has two blogs, so be sure to check both out.

Her blog is "Feminine Farmgirl".  It is such an encouraging blog, and she is doing some posts on Thankfulness, which I assume is for Thanksgiving coming up.  She also posts about her sewing projects, which is very nice.  (I don't think I've ever commented, and I don't follow, just use RSS feeds, so she probably doesn't even know I exist :-)

Her blog "Ribbons of Light" is so inspiring.  It is mostly about period drams and has amazing costume pictures from al sorts of movies.  If it weren't for her, I wouldn't have even known that Emma 2009 existed. =)

Eager Hands is a great sewing blog.  She has so many fresh ideas and is such an inspiration.

Now for the random questions:
1. Have you ever ridden an elephant?
No
2. Have you ever eaten squid?
No, I almost did, but with the little suction cup looking things still on it, there was NO way I was putting it in my mouth.  Perhaps if it was fried or something...
3. What is something crazy you have done with your best friend?
Half the things I do with my two best friends are crazy (they're sisters).  Hhmmmm...something we do quite often is dress up in our salwars (indian tunic and pants thingys) and go shopping or the prayer meeting in them.
4. Have you ever held and alligator?
No
5. Have you ever let a snake slither through your fingers?
No, I haven't had the chance.
6. What is your first and foremost dream?
Well, if the Lord doesn't provide a husband, and doesn't provide children, I want to run an orphanage.  Then I can take care of and teach hundreds of children.  (yes, I'm a tad crazy)
7. What is your dream vacation?
I'm not sure...somewhere gorgeous, but not to hot or cold.  Any ideas?
8. What are your goals for this week?
How about next week, since it is Saturday?  Finish all my school required, have a good thanksgiving and have a good performance of the Messiah
9. What is the funniest movie you have ever seen?
I don't know
10. What is your favorite song?
Right now, it is Palladio, by Karl Jenkins

Another tag...

Jo tagged everyone who has seen Pirates of the Caribbean, so here it is:

Sense and Sensibility vs. Pride and Prejudice? Pride and Prejudice

Elinore Dashwood vs. Elizabeth Bennet? Elizabeth Bennet

Marianne Dashwood vs. Jane Bennet? Jane Bennet

The Lord of the Rings vs. Narnia? How can you compare the two?!  I like them both, but Narnia is a much better read in my opinion

Aragorn vs Peter? Peter

Susan vs Arwen? Based on the books, Arwen doesn't really do much.  But I like her anyway.

Seven Brides for Seven Brothers vs The Sound of Music? The Sound of Music.  Amazing old fashioned film.  Gotta love it.

Enchanted vs Narnia? As far as I know, Enchanted isn't a book, so I can't stick to my standard.  Narnia was rather butchered in the film...  Hmmmm... It is a draw...depends what mood I'm in

Caspian vs Robert? I don't know, Caspian I guess

Giselle vs Lucy? Lucy

Pirates of the Caribbean vs The Lord of the Rings? These are so hard!  Both are great for costumes, so I can't judge by that either!  The Lord of the Rings though, since it doesn't have Jack Sparrow in it.

Will Turner vs Legolas? Legolas

Elizabeth Swann vs Eowyn? They both have their pros and cons, but I guess every character does.  Actually, they're a lot alike... but I'll choose Eowyn

North and South vs Pride and Prejudice? Pride and Prejudice

Mr. Thornton vs Mr. Darcy? Mr. Darcy

Margaret Hale vs Elizabeth Bennet? Elizabeth Bennet

Narnia vs Pirates of the Caribbean? Narnia.

Jack Sparrow vs Edmund? Edmund.  Jack Sparrow might have been funny, but....oh, how shall I say it... he is WIERD

Elizabeth Bennet vs Lucy? Lucy

Emma vs Persuasion? Persuasion

I tag everyone who has read Persuasion, Pride and Prejudice, The Lord of the Rings, Sense and Sensibility, and Narnia.  I haven't read North and South, you I won't require that of you. :-)

Homeschooled, or a homeschooler?

This is a hilarious video about being homeschooled that I found on Morgan's blog today.  I don't agree with everything she has to say, but I got a kick out of it.

Ugg Boots!

Does anyone here not like them?  Like them?  Love them?  I've not tried them, but I think that they would be nice.  Comfortable, and fashionable without going overboard, what do you think?  I think it is worth a try.  That is why I've entered this drawing for them at Whooga Ugg.

Nightgown

Well, remember when I posted about all those lovely patterns I got at Joann Fabrics? Well this, 3573, is one of them, and I finally used it.  The fabric was a dark mint green sort of Chenille style baby fleece, if that makes any sense.  Anyway, the pattern was SUPER easy and the fabric was great to sew with.  The button we bought, but they look they could be made easily with some sculpy from Michaels.  The elastic in the sleeves called for a special casing, but I found some coordinating green ribbon that fit over the elastic so I just used that.  I worked just fine.(and looks a whole lot better).  The gown is SO comfortable, and I would recommend it.

You'll notice that I used the "C" and just added the ruffle from "A".  I also put darts in the back because the bodice was a little big.

(If I look sleepy, it is because I took the r right after I got out of bed. :)

Far to great expectations

Have you ever heard that phrase "A blessing in disguise"? It is really nice when it happens (and you actually recognize it). But have you sort of had, oh, what is the opposite of a blessing... and curse I guess? Ok, have you ever had a curse in disguise? I don't mean to be negative, but it is something I've been struggling with, and, well, what is this blog for but to be my soap box? Just kidding. :-) Anyway, last year I did REALLY well in school, honors and the whole shebang and our homeschool co-op. Then it comes around to this year. Aaaahhhh! How on earth am I supposed to live up to all these expectations?! Of course, realistically, probably nobody will remember the great things I did last year, but I remember what other people did last year, so there is always the possibility that they will remember me.
I'm naturally worried about what others think, and quite frankly, that why I don't post very often. If I'm going to post anything it has got to be impressive right?! I feel like Elizabeth Bennet when she said "Neither of us want to say anything unless it will amaze the whole room" (Or something like that =). Anyway, yes. I do have a pride issue. So now this year I got so worried that at one point school consumed my life, and I actually stopped reading my Bible everyday. Some of you are probably thinking "What?! Of all things! School? She let school get in the way?" I know, a shocker, but I actually really do enjoy school, so it wasn't like I was torturing myself.
I let the good get in the way of the absolute best. But you know what? God has been working in me, and as much of a paranoid wreck as I am over grades, I am now willing to fail every single class to grow in God, to get an A+ in the most important course, at the best school ever. Yes, some of the things God will ask of me will be harder than anything I can imagine right now, but it is all worth it. His opinion is the only one that matters.

"Humble yourselves, therefore, under the mighty hand of God so that at the proper time he may exalt you, casting all your anxieties on him, because he cares for you."
I Peter 5:6-7
