My Rest is in Heaven

My rest is in heaven, my rest is not here ;
Then why should I tremble when trials are near?
Be hushed, my sad spirit; the worst that can come
But shortens thy journey, and hastens thee home.
It is not for me to be seeking my bliss
And building my hopes in a region like this ;
I look for a city which hands have not piled”
I pant for a country by sin undefiled.
The thorn and the thistle around me may grow”
I would not lie down e'en on roses below ;
I ask not my portion, I seek not a rest,
Till I find them for ever on Jesus beloved breast.
Let trial and danger my progress oppose,
They only make heaven more sweet at the close ;
Come joy, or come sorrow, whate'er may befall;
A home with my God will make up for it all.
With a scrip on my back, and a staff in my hand,
I march on in haste through an enemy's land;
The road may be rough, but it cannot be long,
So I'll smooth it with hope and cheer it with song.

Why?

Why are Christians so apathetic today?  Why are "Christian" girls mirroring the world?  We are God's children, Princesses, if you will; daughters of the King of Kings.  Why do princesses act, and at times, look like tavern wenches?  What has gotten into us?  We are God's people!  A holy and royal priesthood.

holy |ˈhōlē|
adjective ( holier holiest )
dedicated or consecrated to God or a religious purposesacred :
• (of a person) devoted to the service of God :• morally and spiritually excellent
Though not a fan of Casting Crowns, my feelings this morning echo the lyrics of one of their songs: "What this World needs"
What this world needs
Is not another one hit wonder with an axe to grind,
Another two bit politician peddlin` lies,
Another three ring circus society.

What this world needs
Is not another sign wavin` super saint that's better than you,
Another ear pleasin` candy man afraid of the truth,
Another prophet in an Armani suit.

What this world needs
Is a Savior who will rescue,
A Spirit who will lead,
A Father who will love them in their time of need.

A Savior who will rescue,
A Spirit who will lead,
A Father who will love,
That's what this world needs.

What this world needs
Is for us to care more about the inside than the outside.
Have we become so blind that we can't see?
God's gotta change her heart before He changes her shirt.

What this world needs
Is for us to stop hiding behind our relevance.
Blendin` in so well that people can't see the difference
And it's the difference that sets the world free.

I thank the Lord for the reputation he has given me.  At robotics my family is known as Christians. Jamie is respected and honored, and I've been referred to more than once as "Miss Webber"(I'm only 15 people!).  At our co-op I was honored with a scholarship for exemplary Christian behavior. I don't deserve all this, but it is what the Lord has given me, and I am thankful.  At the few dances I have been to for our co-op, I've never been asked to dance.  I have this reputation I guess for not enjoying "pop" music.  I just don't hip-hop. Sorry.  Even with all this, I didn't think I was that different, but read this comment by הצעיר שלמה בן רפאל לבית שריקי ס"ט (Sorry sir, I don't know what your name is)
    Wow, the way you dress I really thought you were a Modern Orthodox Jew. So surprising to see Christian girls dress like that.

Why is that gals?  I mean, I'm glad we stick out and all.  Not being of this world, I suppose we are supposed to be a bit like a sore thumb, but why are even our Christian brothers(not just this commenter) surprised when we dress modestly and femininely?  When did everything change?  I'm not saying that our generation started it, they didn't.  But our generation needs to stop it, or at least try to find the breaks on this roller-coaster.  I was really saddened the other day when I heard about this occurrence.
     At our co-op, there is a dress code of sorts.  Modesty rules and everything.  I guess since I only see a lot of these kids there, I only know their co-op personality.  One girl, a graduate this year, and in the same class as my brother asked the parents on the "Senior trip" board if they girls could wear there bikinis on the trip.  My mom spoke out against it, but the other moms present said "Yeah, go ahead.  You're done with the co-op, you can do whatever you want!" ...Whatever, huh?   Well, what happened to "Your body is the temple of God", "You are not your own, you were bought with a price...so glorify God in you body..."?  A pretty high price, Jesus Christ's life blood.

Maybe this doesn't make any sense, I'm a little ruffled this morning. :-)  Tell me what YOU think.
I'll get off my tiny little soap box.

But while your on a role, you might as well visit my Mom's soapbox on dating.
:-)
