Absence

Makes the heart grow fonder?  Hmmm, perhaps.  At any rate, whenever I accidentally leave the blogosphere I get 2 or 3 new followers?  Does this mean I should write more or that people like it when I'm absent?  Haha, Just kidding.  A hearty welcome to all the new folks, whoever ye may be.

Believe it or not, the more I have to blog about the less gets blogged.  When there is only one thing on my mind it is easy enough to sit down and type through it.  When 100 things all converge on me that might be of interest to you all there isn't the time or brain power to express myself.

I've been tempted to go strictly philosophical on you and pour my heart out some days.  Others I have the craziest new ideas or sewing projects to share with you.  Sometimes it is pictures from a recent trip. (All of which, by the way, have posts coming)  So, I leave you with this brief note.  Look forward to an  "Awkward and Awesome" post for Thursday that I'm actually writing now, and after that some pictures from my trip to Winter Retreat +!

For now, enjoy this piece of mellifluous genius.

A Puzzle ❙ time well spent

I'd had a burst of inspiration.  I finally knew what I was going to do with my dress and I wanted to get sketching right away.  I was busy and I was going to go hole myself up in my "studio" when a little voice piped from behind the loveseat:

"Hey, Jo, do you want to help me with my puzzle?"

Her back was turned and she couldn't see my shoulders droop and feet drag towards the exit.  She couldn't hear my thoughts saying "no, not now Emmy I'm busy.  Some other time."

She didn't see my grimace as I realized what I would be missing.  She couldn't see my petulant face and repentant heart, she was still concentrating on finding that one special piece.

I realized that my little sister is days away from her 8th birthday.  What with my school and hers if I blinked I would miss her whole life.  I would wake up one day and a young lady would be my roommate, not the little girl I was so used to telling how to spell words while we wrote our various things late into the night or sang songs to and hugged during the thunderstorms.

I knew I should treasure this time I have with her.  Savor her crazy obsession with the candy cane striped socks with the fur on them and the crazy santa's elf hat she wears to hide that she hasn't brushed her hair and it's a rats nest.

I should remember the way the fire feels warming my back and the sound of her voice as she says "I've got another one" thirty times over.  I should never fail to encourage her with a "good one!" or "yeah!"

I don't want to ever put things above people.  I want to invest in people, and especially my siblings.

And besides, I do love a good puzzle.

 So I replied,
"Sure Emm, I'd love to."

Happy Birthday Mommy!

Happy Birthday!  Surprise!
My Mom's surprise 40th!  Sorry for the lack of pictures, but I was the main organizer and I had a lot to do.  On Friday our best friends came to stay till Sunday, but that surprise was ruined when a 4 year old little mousy, who was privy to all our plans kept asking my mom, "When are the mwells coming?"  "Are the Mowwells go to be here soon?" and so on.  Also, My siblings and I were cleaning like crazy, which, unfort
unately, doesn't happen all the time. :)  However, the big party the next day was a complete surprise.  As soon as Mrs. M took my mom out to lunch, the house was in an organized confusion.  We had to decorate and make the whole
cake in 3 hours.  There were also many little things that were contributed by either my siblings, the Morell family or my good friend Shannen and her mom, who were all here to help, that I will not be able to remember and thank them for, or give them credit.  Thank you all!  To see a video of my Mom walking in, go to her blog here.  We had around 50 guests, and it was a lot of fun.  I would give some details, but to be hone
st, I don't like reading everyone elses REALLY long posts if they are not interesting, so I just stop here.  :-)

Personality...how rare?

Your Personality is the Rarest (INFJ)

Your personality type is introspective, principled, self critical, and sensitive.
Only about 2% of all people have your personality - including 3% of all women and around 1% of all men.
You are Introverted, Intuitive, Feeling, and Judging.
Hmmmmm...maybe thats why I feel like an oddball a lot.  :)  How rare is your personality?  Please take the test and comment, now I'm really curious!

School

I'm so sorry!  I feel like I have completely abandoned all my blogger friends!  Well, I haven't.  So what is happening?  School started today!  Yah!  The first week is always nice because there is not a lot of work.  For all of my readers who love books, the next book I am going to dig into for school is an Agatha Christie.  I have never read any of her books, but I know that they are mysteries.  This one is called "Ten little Indians", or "And Then there were None" (because it changed names after the second and third editions were printed. )  Everyone I have talked to says that it is really good, but I'm not so sure.  So far as I know, everyone gets murdered.  Doesn't make it sound very appealing?  My thoughts exactly.
In art we made stamps today.  I was feeling rather artistic, so I did mine a little different than I usually do.  It turned out great!  I did our state bird, the Cardinal.  I am really happy with it.  I will post pictures and some details about the process if you want me to.  Just comment and say so!  I will most likely be posting very short posts until next Monday.  Why?  I am privy to a very large secret, which I am so excited about, but alas, I cannot post about it yet.  Don't worry, when I do, it will be very good!
I am feeling:
Silly
and Artistic

Recent Happenings

Ok, so there is this restaurant towards the middle of our town that is in a very bad location.  By bad I mean it is on a downhill and there is no stoplight, and it is just plain out of the way.  Over the past 7 or so years we have been here it has changed names 4 times.  It is my opinion that it did not change owners but just changed names.  Just recently it changed again.  What is it called now?  "The Undecided", how fitting.  I know that was weird, but I got a laugh out of it.

My mother posted what I thought was a pretty funny youtube video on her blog(for all you homeschoolers :) )  Here it is.  Tell me what you thought!
