SOK Concert and Kopp's

Last weekend my best friend and I met my family in Milwaukee for a Sons of Korah concert.  Sons of Korah is (a highly underrated) Australian music group that is working on the Psalms Project.  They have 10 CDs out so far.

Their sound takes a little getting-used-to at first for some, but their interpretations of the Psalms are brilliant.  Psalm 94 from their recent album is an angry song, but it perfectly portrays the depth and emotion of the psalmist.  The commentary in-between the songs was wonderful and worshipful.

The humor, brought mostly by the far left and right musicians was also refreshing amidst the serious and sincere moments.  Overall, a wonderful concert.  An added plus was accidentally sitting two rows behind some friends from various parts of WI.  We all headed to Kopp's for custard afterward to round out the evening of fellowship.

It's supposed to be the BEST custard.  I'm not a connoisseur, so I'll take their word for it.

 Parents and friend's from WI.

 Typical Bro shot
Sharing is caring.  Especially when a coffee flavor is involved.

What a stud.

Boo is the best.

only human

God, this human needs you.
I need you.
I'll stop my raging.  Remind me who you are.

"be still, and know that I am GOD.  i will be exalted among the nations, i will be exalted in the earth!"       Psalm 46:10

Awkward & Awesome Thursday: dix

AWKWARD
  • Figuring out how to not be rude and not leading on at the same time, especially when dealing with special needs people.
  • Wearing guys pajamas because they match my brothers' and we got them for Christmas.
  • Finding out the hard way that my favorite sweater was 100% fine merino wool, and dry clean only.  Let's just say that Emily has a really sweet felt sweater now.
  • Taking pictures outside in my formal dress (pictures/post coming) when it is 15 degrees and getting sticks caught in the lace.
  • Secrets, especially when they aren't your own.
  • Putting myself out there.  I'm was a very private person until very recently and when you open up, sometimes you get hurt.  Let's just say I'm still getting used to the fact that I'm my own person, if that makes any sense whatsoever.

AWESOME
  • Winter Retreat + at Story Book Lodge Christian Camp.  I met so many people and was encouraged and challenged beyond belief by the bible study and talks I had with like-minded believers.
  • Hymn sings and learning new songs.
  • Finishing sewing projects, especially the 3 formal dresses for the Premiere which really should get its own bullet...
  • The Premiere was this past Saturday!
  • Spending time with my friends Emily and +Kara Morell !  :-)
  • The Hobbit.  Just go see it.  It is awesome.
  • The PianoGuys.  They've come out with some awesome new stuff lately, but I always go back to this classic.  I could listen to it on repeat for days.

The Canadian Tenors

I have been enjoying this lovely album be the Canadian Tenors recently.  Have you heard of them before?  Their songs have such wonderful harmonies.  And a couple are in different languages which makes them extra awesome. :-)
With the exception of "Remember Me"I really like them all.

Winter Wonderland

Hello all!  We haven't had a lot of snow here yet, just dustings here and there, but it is definitely started to feel like winter!  How I love the holidays. :-)  Check out Simplyaccapela on Youtube!  It is so encouraging to see Christian girls using their talents to God's glory!

A Bee and a Song

Hello friends!  So sorry I haven't been posting.  I have many sewing and photography posts in my brain queue (I should add them to wunderlist...) and I will get all caught up soon.  Meanwhile, to tide you over, here is a photo I took recently of a bee.  I'm still really new to photoshop, so bear with me as my edits improve. :-)

Unfortunately for you all, this means posts will take longer make it to the blog.  My new and improved equipment means there are more steps.  But trust me, it will be worth it. :-)

Also of note: I love this song.  Jon Schmidt and Steven Sharp Nelson have made me love it even more.

Concerts

Recently my brothers had there solo recitals. They did a really good job and only had minor mistakes. All of the students at the Rockford College Music Academy had recitals, and all that I heard and saw were very poised and did a good job. The last photo is of my Dad, my brothers and I at the Church where my Dad, brother and I sung Handel's "Messiah" with the Rockford Choral Union. Hudson and Nathanael were ushers. It was really a blessing to be able to sing the Messiah, the lyrics of which is all Bible verses. We did not get any pictures of either the Saturday or Sunday performances, Sorry. :(
