For My Mom

Dear Mom,

For all the late nights, tears, headaches, aches, & pains;
I thank you.
For all the songs, stories, rhythms, encouragements & books read aloud;
I thank you.
For all the dances, hugs, back-rubs, massages, ring-around-the-rosies, tickles, & tumbles;
I thank you.
For all the homework helps, smiley faces, challenges, successes & book-learning;
I thank you.
For all the favorite meals, snacks, & bandaids on my boo-boos (or stitches my face);
I thank you.
For all the craft skills, tea parties & dress-up clothes;
I thank you.

For your honesty and openness, not only of your home but of your heart; for loving my Daddy and showing my what a godly marriage looks like; for your quickness to forgive and ask forgiveness, for your spontaneity; for your grace; for your passion; for being a doer; for being a try-er; for falling down and picking yourself right back up; for always believing in me;

Mom, you're the best
No, seriously.  You're the coolest Mom in the history of moms.

Even when you fail at using pop slang the right way or sing at the top of your lungs in the middle of the grocery store parking lot.

Even though I haven't told you everyday or even every week or month I can start now:

I love you!

I love you mum, and I hope one day I can be as awesome of a mom as you are.

Thank you for not giving up.
Thanks for being mine.

Life

Sorry I haven't posted in a while, but there isn't anything to post about unless you like hearing about my very boring life. So I will post some things that have been heard around the house lately...and try not to complain about school.

Earlier today when it was quiet, I was reading all of your blogs. Then I decided to tune in to the "Emmy station". Let me explain. Emily usually just blabbers about nothing, so I have learned to tune her out. She was tucking her doll into a blanket on the chair before she went "shopping" with her favorite cart.
"Now go to sleep Susie, and don't worry, I'll be right back. I'm just going shopping, so don't get scared."
I thought that was really cute. Something that was also said today, actually, earlier tonight, was from my Mom. This doesn't happen that often, but when it does it is funny. We were talking about buying Fireproof on a DVD, and mommy was doing her menu plan on the computer at the same time. She was asking for meal suggestions and somebody said chicken-pot-pie. My mom then, who was trying to be part of 2 conversations at once said...
"Chicken-proof?"
Before she knew what she said everybody was laughing. But my Mom has such a good sense of humor, good ole' Moms! Lets here it for them.

In other news...My Dad goes to Chicago tomorrow and stays till Friday, actually, Saturday. My Mom is going to stay there with him on Friday night, and go around in Chicago on a date on Saturday. So we are by ourselves Friday night.

P.S. Costume progress to be posted soon...

Pumpkins

     In my moms garden, there is basil, peas, cilantro, eggplant(supposedly), and pumpkins.   The pumpkins are doing very well, Regardless of the fact that the ones that have grown into the ard have been mowed over, they missed a couple waterings, and were started late.  At the count this morning there were 18 pumpkins.  The biggest is about half the size of a big cantaloupe, or a very small cantaloupe.  I guess we will see some different pumpkin recipes soon!

Costume Corner

It's finally here! I finished the dress! It was rather hard, and we had to modify a few things, but it looks great. I would have been lost if it weren't for my mom, she helped a lot. Here is a picture.

Vacation 2

In Philadelphia we were very privileged to have our own tour guide, Mr. K. He has a history major and made Philadelphia very interesting. He also accompanied us to Valley Forge. Valley Forge is where George Washington and his men camped during the winter for 1777. Valley Forge is huge, it was picked because of the ease with which they (the colonists) could watch the the british (who were down in Philadelphia). This winter was not the coldest winter, but because of the lack of supplies and disease, Washington lost over half of his 12,000 men. Later, in the spring, Baron Frierich von Steuben came from Europe and drilled the lagging group of men into a well working army. There is a statute of his likeness now erected in Valley Forge to remember him. In Philadelphia we went to one of the first cheese-steak stands, it is called "Pats Steaks". People say it is the best. They were pretty good. Part of a movie was filmed at Pats, it was "Rocky". There was a plaque on the floor showing where he stood. After that we went to see the Liberty Bell. The Liberty bell was really cool. But I never realized how small it actually is. Well, it isn't that small, but I always that that it was gigantic!
Here are some more pictures!
