E Pluribus Unum Premiere

You saw the trailer for our latest film, Time, Space and the Lint Between here, but you may not realize it that this is the second film that Webber Entertainment Group has collaborated with Morell Cinematic Studios on.  Our last one, E Pluribus Unum, came out almost exactly 1 year ago.

When it came out we started a tradition of sorts.  We had a movie "premiere" where everyone dresses up Hollywood style and walked the red carpet to see it for the first time all together.  It was a blast.  So of course, we're doing it again. :-)  The film is currently in postproduction and is on schedule to come out in early 2013.

Since I never posted any pictures from the last premiere I will do so now to give you a little taste of what I'm talking about.

I know these look small, but you can click on any of them to make them bigger.

So, everyone got their picture taken on the red carpet under the marquee.  Don't they all look great?  These are some of my favorite people.

I wasn't just the people that looked good though, the house was dressed to the nines and the food looked and tasted unbelievable.

Just ask Josiah.  He knows. :-P

Hudson looking studly.

Musn't forget to mention all of the awesome people who worked like crazy to set this up, and then stay and help clean up!

After "dinner" we watched the movie.  And laughed hysterically. ;-)

There was a great deal of talking and some swing dancing thrown in there.

Pictures were taken...

 And posed...

And then these two great gentlemen MC'd the first annual Champignon Awards.  Because, you see, that is a word that looks like "Champion" but in reality means "Mushroom" in french, and a Morel is a mushroom, and we were at the Morell's house...Get it?  Yeah, I though it was wickedly clever too. :-)

Our beloved Director and Editor-in-Chief.  She got the final and most prestigious award and then made a sweet speech to close the night.

But wait!  You can't leave until you get all of the actors' and actresses' signatures!  Everyone got a souvenir poster as a keepsake and everyone signed the massive original as well.  That is what Emily is doing above.

And why, you may ask, am I telling you all this?  For that you must stay tuned for a future post... :-)

Something to disagree on - Amazing Grace

Here are pictures of Ms. Spooner's emerald gown, as well as other interesting costumes that appeared around the same time.

In this scene, Barbara and William are trying to aggravate theirs host and hostess by arguing, but first they must find something to disagree on.

"Entirely Unmarried" Barbara Spooner - Amazing Grace

I just love the costumes from this early 1800s film!  The movie itself is good too (though they could have emphasized his faith more). So here are the pictures of the costumes of Marianne and Barbara at the Pump Rooms.  This may seem ridiculous to some of my readers, but trust me, sewing geeks, or geek-want-to-bes, myself included, drool over this stuff.  Perhaps it is a disease...if so, it is certainly contagious! Beware! :-)

This is the scene in which Barbara and William are both "entirely unmarried".  Love that scene. :-)

Molly Gibson's Blue Frock - A project to start

This is my absolute favorite gown from the miniseries "Wives and Daughters".  I've been thinking about duplicating it for a while, but I wasn't so sure I wanted to start drafting on such a big project.  I took some screen captures during the film, and am putting the best ones up here.  I'll give my observations on the dress's features beneath the photo that shows it best.  To start, it is a romantic dress, meaning from the romantic era.  The Romantic era is sandwiched in-between the Regency and Victorian eras, so in this film you get a wide variety of fashions and transitional gowns.

It is a sleeveless dress, technically known as a jumper.  Molly wears it with a couple different white, or off-white blouses throughout the course of the movie.

Both the back and the front of the bodice sport scooped necklines.  Although I cannot see any darts, I can only assume that there are because of the way it fits the actress.

Buttons, buttons, buttons.  All the way down, but are they useable?  I highly doubt that there is forty or so button holes in this dress.  AND, even if there is, I'M not putting them there. :-)  Of course, the top few should be real, but is it necessary to do it the whole way down?!  Who knows, perhaps I will, and hand-stitch them all.

One thing that is quite obvious is the white trim that goes around the neckline, down the front, and then around the hem.

There is also a belt, but I doubt that it is attached.

Ankle length...

Fitted bodice, and a skirt that is gathered almost all the way around.  The very front, probably 2 inches on either side of the trim that surrounds the buttons is not gathered.

Now we come to the end.  After seeing all this, I was pretty sure I could do it, then I remembered.  "Hey, remember when you were going through the show and tell sections of Jennie Chancey's Sense and Sensibility patterns website?  You saw a pink version of a dress kinda like this...maybe...just maybe... Go Check it out!"

And so I did, and sure enough, there it was, the Romantic Era Pattern!  So, I have purchased it, and await the time when I will see the perfect fabric on clearance and the perfect buttons and trim at a garage sale or on sale!
