Prayer
I know you are all checking your RSS feeds and just want to see pretty pictures or read very short quotes, but I would ask you to slow down and just take the three minutes needed to read this hymn in its entirety.
Don't skim it.
Read it, and let it wash over your soul anew this Sunday afternoon.
Prayer is the soul’s sincere desire,
Uttered, or unexpressed;
The motion of a hidden fire
That trembles in the breast.
Prayer is the burden of a sigh,
The falling of a tear;
The upward glancing of an eye
When none but God is near.
Prayer is the simplest form of speech
That infant lips can try;
Prayer the sublimest strains that reach
The Majesty on high.
Prayer is the Christian’s vital breath,
The Christian’s native air;
His watchword at the gates of death;
He enters rest with prayer.
The saints in prayer appear as one,
In word, and deed, and mind;
While with the Father and the Son
Sweet fellowship they find.
O Thou, by whom we come to God,
The Life, the Truth, the Way,
The path of prayer Thyself hast trod—
Lord, teach us how to pray.
You have the extreme privilege of speaking to the God of the universe, and he listens.
Is prayer your "vital breath?"

My Rest is in Heaven
My rest is in heaven, my rest is not here ; Then why should I tremble when trials are near? Be hushed, my sad spirit; the worst that can come But shortens thy journey, and hastens thee home. It is not for me to be seeking my bliss And building my hopes in a region like this ; I look for a city which hands have not piled” I pant for a country by sin undefiled. The thorn and the thistle around me may grow” I would not lie down e'en on roses below ; I ask not my portion, I seek not a rest, Till I find them for ever on Jesus beloved breast. Let trial and danger my progress oppose, They only make heaven more sweet at the close ; Come joy, or come sorrow, whate'er may befall; A home with my God will make up for it all. With a scrip on my back, and a staff in my hand, I march on in haste through an enemy's land; The road may be rough, but it cannot be long, So I'll smooth it with hope and cheer it with song. |

Happy New Year!
With everyone making new years resolutions around this time a year I thought I would post this hymn. Whoever wrote sure made a big commitment. Making resolutions is good, if you can keep them. We need to continually be in prayer and asking the Lord to help us. One of my goals this year is to love more. To love my enemies(if I get any), to love my fellow brothers and sisters in Christ more, to love Christ more. Also to find ways to show it. :) Here is the hymn.
Take My Life and Let it Be
Take my life, and let it be consecrated, Lord, to Thee; Take my hands, and let them move at the impulse of thy love, at the impulse of thy love.
Take my feet, and let them be swift and beautiful for Thee; Take my voice, and let me sing always, only, for my King, always, only, for my King.
Take my lips, and let them be filled with messages for Thee; Take my silver and my gold, not a mite would I withhold, not a mite would I withhold.
Take my love, my God, I pour at thy feet its treasure store; Take myself and I will be ever, only, all for Thee, Ever, only, all for Thee.

Sovereign Grace O'er Sin Abounding
Sov'reign grace o'er sin abounding
Ransom'd souls, the tidings swell;
'Tis a deep that knows no sounding,
Who its breadth or length can tell?
On its glories On its glories
Let my soul for ever dwell!
On its glories On its glories
Let my soul for ever dwell!
What from Christ the soul can sever,
Bound by time its race begun:
Once in Him, in Him forever,
Thus th' eternal cov'nant stands.
None shall pluck thee None shall pluck the
From the Savior's mighty hands!
None shall pluck thee None shall pluck the
From the Savior's mighty hands!
Heirs of God, joint-heirs with Jesus,
Long ere time its race begun:To His name eternal praises,
O what wonders love to me?
One with Jesus, One with Jesus,
By eternal union one.
One with Jesus, One with Jesus,
By eternal union one.
On such love, my soul, still ponder,
Love, so great, so rich, so free;
Say, while lost in holy wonder,
Why O Lord, such love to me?
Hallelujah! Hallelujah!
Grace shall reign eternally!
Hallelujah! Hallelujah!
Grace shall reign eternally!
