English Baroque Dancing!

For those of you who LOVE to dance, but like myself, don't really know how, and don't have anybody to dance with... look at this.  Is it cool or what!  I just love the lace at the elbows!  Love it, love it, love it!
Enjoy!

  1. Oh lovely! The costumes are amazing! What is this from, do you know?
It would be fun to dance that dance. I told my sister it looks almost like a Baroque Virginia Reel :)

  3. I love dancing. Some of the home schoolers around here go contra dancing, which sounds fun, but I've never been. People should still put on dances, I think. Didn't you help teach one at a banquet?

  4. Sort of, but not really. See 4 boys, 3 other girls and myself were there the night before when the lady taught it the first time, so we were experienced and demonstrated. I didn't know it before hand though. :-) Maybe when we see you guys next we should have a barn dance or something. You can get tapes/cds with the calls and music on them... And books that teach you what the calls mean, of course. Youtube also helps... lets think about it!

  5. Ooh! Thanks for sharing the video. Very elegant.
Those wide hoops made me laugh! I'm used to seeing 19th c. era hoops that are quite a different shape.

If you want to dance - get involved in reenacting! I always enjoy the dances at events - and occasionally a bit more formal ball as well!
