Golden Saturday

I'm thankful for
-Sleep-overs with friends and long talks
-Rain and wind and 60 degrees temperatures that make you reach for a blanket and cup of warm liquid
-Voices that can speak and sing
-Beautiful flowers

-Rainbows that last for 30 seconds and then quietly slip away
-Grasshoppers that don't jump away, but climb onto you hand and just sit a while
-Cleanness.  Of Person and house and soul.
-Golden hour.  There were no words.

-This beautiful soul and her friendship to me.
-Wood-working with Daddy again
-Talks with Mom
-The words of hymns that speak clearly amidst my raw emotions
-My dear siblings, even though they are all gone right now.

Casey Rae ❘ Spring Portraits

Wow.  It has been forever.  I haven't posted a photo session here in months.  The truth is, I haven't taken photos in months.  Just after I started my education with CollegePlus! I went through a 3 month period of life re-arranging.  Spiritual formation.  Future evaluation.  Purpose.  Basics.

I've learned so much about myself and what God has for me.  During that whole time I didn't shoot hardly at all.  When I did my heart wasn't really in it.  Now I've come to a "spring" in my photography and a renewed passion for creating, capturing, and remembering.  On Friday I went out and shot some promo photos for my business with some friends and had an absolute blast.  I'm looking forward to challenging myself with new things!  Enjoy these portraits of Casey that I took. :-)  You may remember her as my first photography client EVER!  I took her senior pictures 1 1/2 years ago.

I'll leave you with my favorite. :-)

Bethany {Class of 2013}

Bethany
I was so excited when Bethany's Mom approached me about senior pictures.  I've only met Bethany a couple times...conferences, co-ops, parties.  She is a good friend of friend (Remember Casey?) so I saw her a couple times and I got one of those photographer nudges.  You know, the one that says "I really, really want to take their picture!"  I had so much fun shooting with you and your mom, Bethany!

Bethany is currently homeschooled and is thinking about CollegePlus! as the next step in her education.  I just started it myself so I was surprised and excited to learn that.  You'll do great!

We shot at Lockwood Park and got to "work"(read that: tried to get them to cooperate) with the horses she worked with all summer...

Bethany, you can ROCK the serious face.  I kept just saying "perfect...perfect...perfect" throughout the shoot.  You knew exactly what I was going for and nailed it.  You give me that mysterious face up there and then...

...you laugh through your eyes like you don't know what a frown is.

A lover of books and reading.

She also has a beautiful voice.  Check out the YouTube channel she and her sister have to hear them sing. :-)  Simplyacapella.

Check out the Eiffel Tower earrings!  My kinda girl.

My favorite. :-)  Bethany you have such a beautiful spirit and it pours out through your eyes!

Joanna {Class of 2012}

Meet Joanna!  Senior, friend, singer, actress, student, sister, over-achiever extraordinaire!  I was so excited when Joanna asked me to take her pictures.  We sort of grew up together at our homeschool co-op but I didn't start really getting to know her until this past year.  We shared a math class and were in Model UN together.

Yeah.

When I said over-achiever I wasn't kidding.  She probably did more work preparing for conference than anyone else, and that is saying something.  Joanna is a go-getter.  She is smart, talented, and VERY outgoing.  She isn't afraid to do great things.  At the school where she is going (Eureka College)  Not only did she get the very prestigious Reagan Fellowship, but she is inventing the program theater ed and starting a College MUN team.  Go girl!

I believe she said this dress was from somewhere in Africa...

There were some gorgeous catchlights on this shoot.  I was surprised how well it went actually, considering the harsh 11am sunlight.

Haha!  Oh, this was fun. :-)
The scarf is from Australia, by the way.

My personal favorite from the day.  The fan is from Korea.

In honor of her Reagan Fellowship.

And this my friends, is the way she feels about graduating. :-)

Enjoy!
