"Entirely Unmarried" Barbara Spooner - Amazing Grace

I just love the costumes from this early 1800s film!  The movie itself is good too (though they could have emphasized his faith more). So here are the pictures of the costumes of Marianne and Barbara at the Pump Rooms.  This may seem ridiculous to some of my readers, but trust me, sewing geeks, or geek-want-to-bes, myself included, drool over this stuff.  Perhaps it is a disease...if so, it is certainly contagious! Beware! :-)

This is the scene in which Barbara and William are both "entirely unmarried".  Love that scene. :-)

Good Day!

  1. Have you seen the new Emma? The Lady who plays Barbara plays Emma, and is completely convincing.

Also, I just want to say that I love the collars on their dresses. But I like almost all collars.

  2. Amazing Grace is one of my favorite movies, both for the story and the costumes. I agree, the directors could've emphasized Wilberforce's faith more, but I think they did a great job, considering that this was really a Hollywood movie. This scene and the garden scene are probably my two favorites in the movie.

    "Hurry up, we'll be late!"
    "Late for what?" :)

  3. Kara,
I love their collars too! Just lovely. And yes, I have seen the new Emma. Have you seen Wives and daughters? Mr. Gibson from that and Mr. Hamley, who is Emma's Dad in Emma are also in this movie.

    Jo,
The water has been here for a million years already, how can we be late?

Yes, there are some very good lines!
